In times when the right to safe termination of pregnancy is becoming increasingly restricted across the world, the program brings together two short films with different perspectives dedicated to the political struggle for bodily self-determination and reproductive justice. KINDER FÜR DIESES SYSTEM by Ingrid Oppermann and Gardi Deppe was made at DFFB in 1972 and shown at the Women’s Film Seminar in 1973. The filmmakers problematize the illegalization of pregnancy termination through the German Paragraph 218 as part of the capitalist mode of production. With their documentary film, the two film students use a hybrid form combining collages of historical images and acted education scenes to analyze the discrepancy between the reality of personal life and the legal situation in society. GETTY ABORTIONS addresses the current legal situation regarding terminations in Germany from the autofictional perspective of the filmmaker. The screenlife film uses stock photos to expose a media narrative that reproduces clichés about body images that negatively impact the decisionmaking of affected persons. As an essay, GETTY ABORTIONS manifests a current feminist critique of the representation of abortion in the media. feminist elsewhere presents the Berlin premiere of GETTY ABORTIONS. (fe)
